Joel James Gretsch is an American well-known actor. He is professionally best known for his roles on The 4400, Taken and Minority report. Joel James Gretsch is a reported actor and director, internationally known for his extraordinary roles in various movies and series. He has freshly emerged as a guest star in a Showtime Comedy Drama which was nominated for the Emmy Award.

Early life

Gretsch was born on 20 Dec 1963 St. Cloud, Minnesota and grew up in Albany, Minnesota, He is the son of Russ and Barb. He grew with sister, Jane, and a brother, Steve in Catholic. He has an American nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity. He joined Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, where he studied acting. He traveled to Los Angeles in 1989, where he currently lives with his family.


Gretsch joined acting at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis before leaving to Los Angeles in 1989. His stage performance includes roles in Molière’s Tartuffe and John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.


He appeared in episodes of Married… with Children, Melrose Place, Friends and Saved by the Bell: The New Class in the early 1990s. He has also performed in episodes such as JAG, Silk Stalkings, CSI: Miami, Burn Notice, and NCIS.
Gretsch performed a part of wealthy advertising executive and husband of a supermodel on an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He also had 2 guest presentations on NBC’s Journeyman, where he performed a role of the father of protagonist Dan Vasser.

Gretsch has also worked supporting actors in various films including Bobby Jones in The Legend of Bagger Vance, Minority Report, The Emperor’s Club and National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Gretsch has currently emerged as a guest star in the Showtime Comedy-Drama The United States of Tara in the 1st season’s last 2 episodes, which was produced by Diablo Cody, later nominated for the Emmy Award.
