At first, Jonathan never wanted to be an actor but his brother went for different auditions. Ke Quan was selected instead of his brother without any audition for the role of Harrison Ford‘s Sidekick Short Round in Indiana Jones and The temple of the Doom.
For his role in the film, Quan won Young Artist Award as well and thus lots of other works followed. The next year, Jonathan acted in The Goonies as Richard Wang and also featured in other languages cinema such as Japanese, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong movie.
